Asaas API: Billing, Pix and Webhooks with AI Agents

Asaas is a Brazilian payments and billing platform. Its REST API covers nearly everything you can do in the dashboard: customer records, charges, subscriptions, transfers and invoices. Companies and developers use it to connect billing to an ERP, CRM or in-house system. Access is through the account's own API key, with a sandbox environment for testing.

What the Asaas API offers

Customers

Create, update and look up payers with tax ID (CPF or CNPJ), email and phone.

Charges

Issue a boleto (Brazilian bank slip), Pix or card charge, check status, refund and generate a second copy.

Subscriptions

Create recurring charges and adjust amount, cycle and due date.

Invoices

Schedule and issue service invoices linked to charges.

Transfers and balance

Check balance and statement, make transfers and pay bills.

Webhooks

Receive events such as charge paid, overdue or refunded.

How to access the Asaas API

  • With your company’s credentialsAuthentication uses an API key (access token) generated in the Asaas dashboard and sent in the header of each request. Sandbox and production have separate keys.
  • The API key gives broad access to the account, including transfers: keep it only in the vault and block money-out actions for the agent.
  • Use the sandbox to validate the collections flow before turning it on in production.
  • Tax IDs, phone numbers and payment data are personal: handle them under Brazil's LGPD data-protection law.

What an iTeam agent does with the Asaas API

Collections by conversation

When it receives the overdue-charge event, the agent sends a reminder on WhatsApp with the payment line or the Pix code and records the customer's reply.

Second copy without a finance queue

The customer asks for a second copy by email or WhatsApp and the agent returns the updated charge link right away.

Reconciliation with the ERP

The agent reads the day's paid charges and settles the ERP entries, separating amount mismatches for review.

Discounts within authority limits

Requests for a discount or installments become a proposal from the agent, approved by finance before the charge is changed.

From the credential to the agent at work, with approval

01

Generate the API key in Asaas

In the Asaas dashboard, generate the account's API key (start with the sandbox) and set the webhook URL that iTeam provides.

02

Set permissions per agent

In iTeam, the Asaas credential goes into the vault and each agent gets a closed list of actions (look up charges, issue a second copy, create a charge). Actions that change data require a person's approval.

03

Validate small, then scale up

Start with one case: issue a charge in the sandbox and simulate the payment. Once the result is checked, the process takes on more volume, always with the audit trail and approval wherever there is risk.

Questions

Questions about the Asaas API

Is the Asaas API free?

There is no charge for the API itself. You pay Asaas's normal fees per boleto, Pix, card or invoice issued. Check the current fee table on the Asaas website.

Do I need to write code to use the Asaas API with iTeam?

No. iTeam reads the Asaas API documentation, builds the calls, and the deployment team adjusts the flow with you. What stays with the company is approving and following up.

Can I test the Asaas API without touching real money?

Yes. Asaas offers a sandbox environment with its own key, where iTeam validates the collections flow and webhooks before going to production.
