Box API: what you can do and how to use it with AI agents
The Box API gives access to files, folders, shares, metadata, search and events for the content stored there. Companies that keep contracts, projects and corporate documents in Box use it. Access is through an app registered in the developer console, with OAuth or server authentication.

- Apps with server access can see a lot of content: restrict them to specific folders.
- Shared links should have an expiry and approval.
- Documents can contain personal and confidential data.

What an iTeam agent does with the Box API
Contract found in seconds
The agent searches Box for the supplier contract and answers the question about term or penalty, citing the file.
Classification of incoming documents
Files that land in the intake folder are read, classified with metadata and moved to the right folder.
Customer link with an expiry date
The agent creates the shared link with an expiry and sends it to the customer after the owner approves.
Access review
The agent lists folders with public links or external collaborators for IT to review.
From the credential to the agent at work, with approval
Create the app in the Box console
Register the app, choose the authentication type and ask the administrator to authorize it on the corporate account.
Store it in the vault and limit folders
Add the credentials to the iTeam vault and give access only to the folders each process needs.
Test in a pilot folder
Run the organization step in a pilot folder and only then expand to the real folders.
Ready-made AI teams for this work
Management reporting team
Revenue, margin, pipeline and cash in one report, built from your systems, with a short note on what changed and why.
Inventory planning team
Stock, sales and lead times are checked every day. You get a reorder list per SKU and a warning about what is not selling.
Procurement and quotes team
Requests go out to suppliers, quotes come back into one table, and the approver sees price, terms and past orders before saying yes.
Logistics and deliveries team
Routes, drivers and delivery status in one place, with customers told about delays before they have to ask.
Questions about the Box API

The API has no separate charge, but its use depends on your Box plan, and call limits vary by plan.
Do I need to write code to use the Box API with iTeam?
Not necessarily. Box is in the iTeam app catalog, and the deployment team configures folders and permissions.
Does the agent read PDFs and spreadsheets?
Yes. It downloads the permitted file, reads the content and answers citing the source.
