Asana API: what you can do and how to use it with AI agents
The Asana API gives access to workspaces, projects, sections, tasks, comments and custom fields. Marketing, operations and PMO teams that organize work in Asana use it. Access is through a personal token or an OAuth app registered in the developer console.
What the Asana API offers

Projects and sections

Comments (stories)
Add comments and read the history of each task.

What an iTeam agent does with the Asana API
Brief becomes a project
From a brief received by email, the agent creates the project from the team template, with tasks, owners and due dates.
Project status update
Every week, the agent reads progress and writes the project status with risks and next milestones.
Dependencies at risk
The agent warns when a late task will push back others that depend on it.
Slack requests into Asana
Requests made in the channel become tasks in the intake section, with a link to the original conversation.
From the credential to the agent at work, with approval
Create the credential
Use an Asana service account to generate the token, or register an OAuth app in the developer console.
Store in the vault and limit projects
Register the credential in the iTeam vault and define in which projects each agent reads and writes.
Test in a pilot project
Run the automation in a pilot project and review it with the team before scaling up.
Ready-made AI teams for this work
Management reporting team
Revenue, margin, pipeline and cash in one report, built from your systems, with a short note on what changed and why.
Inventory planning team
Stock, sales and lead times are checked every day. You get a reorder list per SKU and a warning about what is not selling.
Procurement and quotes team
Requests go out to suppliers, quotes come back into one table, and the approver sees price, terms and past orders before saying yes.
Logistics and deliveries team
Routes, drivers and delivery status in one place, with customers told about delays before they have to ask.
Questions about the Asana API
Is the Asana API free?
Generally yes: the API is available on Asana accounts at no separate cost. Some features reached through it depend on the plan.
Do I need to write code to use the Asana API with iTeam?
Not necessarily. Asana is in iTeam's app catalog, and the deployment team sets up projects, fields and rules.
Can the agent use project templates?
Yes, when the plan allows templates. That way each new project starts with the same structure the team defined.
